Getting into Bhutan

There are two ways by which you can travel to Bhutan: Either by air or overland through Phuentsholing & Sumdrupjongkhar, a small town in south Bhutan bordering Indian state of West Bengal & South East bordering Assam State of India. We have two different airline which fly into Bhutan. A state owned property, Druk Air services to and from Bangkok (Thailand), Kathmandu (Nepal), Delhi, Kolkotta, Mumbai (India) Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Singapore. A private owned airline, Bhutan Airline cater you from and to Bangkok (Thailand) Delhi & Kolkta (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal).

Overland entry from Phuentsholing is more convenient if you wish to tour Sikkim and Darjeeling before your tour in Bhutan. While you can enter and exit from Samdrup Jongkhar, a town in south east of Bhutan bordering Assam. However for Assam border, you require to enter other part of India and then entering into Assam is must. This entry and exit is more convenient if you wish to tour Assam after Bhutan without tracing back the same lateral route back to Paro for your flight to other destinations.
